The Pool – The HEATED swimming pool (11.5 x 5.5m) is salt-filtered (soft on skin and eyes) and is fenced to protect our younger guests. The terrace area is paved in local stone with ten comfortable sun loungers and several sun umbrellas. The pool is shared by the three cottages. Inflatable pool toys are provided and you are of course welcome to also bring your own. The pool is heated by a heat exchange pump and we keep it at a higher temperature than you will usually encounter. This means that no matter what the weather, everyone will be more than happy to take a plunge! From mid-May through early September the water is between 25 and 30 degrees, which is comfortable for even the youngest babies. Outside these dates it depends on the outside temperature, but the pool is heated and ready for swimming from early May until late September.
The Games and Playroom – The popular and well-stocked games/play room includes table football, table tennis, board games and many books for toddlers and parents alike. There is a toddler play area with soft playmat, a tot-sized round table with stools, tents, and lots and lots of toys. Children are welcome to take toys to their cottage, there is more than enough for everyone!
The Playground – Our “enchanted” playground, set in a shady forest clearing, includes a climbing tower, slide, see-saw, baby and toddler swings, wooden playhouse, sand pit with sand toys and even has a bench for tired parents!
The Grounds – The Domaine includes six acres of fields and woodland perfect for running around in, quiet walks, picnics, gathering chestnuts, playing football, badminton or cricket or just dozing under a tree.
Laundry & Linen – A laundry room is provided for the free use of the three gites. It contains two washing machines, a dryer, irons and ironing board, and the laundry lines are nearby. Don’t forget that all bed linen, bath towels and pool towels are included, with a fresh set provided after your first week.
Internet Access – If you bring your laptop you can access free WiFi Internet in the field in front of the gites, at the pool, and at a designated area in the shade at the front of the owners’ house. La Sauterelle has signal on its own terrace.
Babysitting – If you’d like to enjoy a “grown-up” evening out at one of the many fantastic restaurants in our area why not book a babysitter? We have a roster of experienced English-speaking babysitters for you to choose from.
Restaurants, Markets and Activities – In each gite is a guide with information on the (child-friendly) local restaurants, shops, pharmacies, doctors, farmers markets, evening markets, wine tasting, and local activities such as canoeing, zip-lining through the forest, ballooning, bike rental, horseback riding, guided walks, fishing in nearby lakes (incl. stocked trout and carp lake) and on the Lot river, several nearby golf courses and country walks.
Guided Walks and Sightseeing – Sally Gaucheron, an English art and design historian who has lived in Montcabrier for 20 years can come pick you up at your gite and take you on a guided walk to Montcabrier or a tour of one of the area’s many historial sites. See Sally’s Website for more information.
Massage and Beauty Treatments – While the children are playing outside or in the playroom you can have a deep tissue massage, pedicure, facial or other beauty treatment in the privacy of your own cottage. It doesn’t get more luxurious! Local Qualified Beauty and Holistic therapist Karen can do it all. We can email you the list with the various treatments and prices in advance if you’d like.
